I personally think HP is the best and affordable computer brand for laptops. I like this one especially: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Processor&v1=Intel&series_name=dv6000t_series

But that's just me. What do you think is best and affordable computer brand for laptops?

i agree absolutely with your decision for an HP dv6000t. you have all the opportunities to customize it for the purpose you want.
and believe me, it isn't more expensive than a Dell and the customer service of HP is significantly better than the one of Dell.

If you can afford $1500 for a computer, go with a Macbook (Pro). They're far more reliable than other computers and they're not that much more expensive than a similarly-equipped Dell. Speed for the Internet has nothing to do with the laptop you buy, but the gigabit ethernet in the Macbooks can handle whatever Internet connection you give it.

You have to decide on what you want to do with the computer, and then you can get the right computer for the job. HP is a good brand.

I had a Compaq that was crap. Dell laptops are good but my favorite is Toshiba which I have now. I LOVE IT! It's been the best computer I've ever had, hands down.
