Hi, im planning on buying a dell this year, but i would like to buy one from the dell outlet because i can save a few bucks that way, but i was wondering if buying a "dent and scratch" computer is actually ok i know it says that they are in perfect working order but im not willing to spend $600 if its going to break, so i was wondering if anyone has boughten a "dent and scratch" computer, and if they do in fact have no performance flaws. The last computer i bought was in 2004 and i bought a referbished from dell, it works perfect and i have never had a problem with it, but i noticed now they have "dent and scratch" so i was just wondering if those computers actually work as well as they claim them to. Hi there, i am now in the market for a new hard drive.
I have a 16 mb hdd at the mo (which is driving me mad!!!!) and need a bigger one - was thinking of maybe a 200.
Can anyone tell me what to look out for? i mean like so many pins etc? would my pc take it? also what do i do about an operating system with my new hard drive??? will i need to install my win xp onto it? please help folks - any info you think i would benefit from in terms of hdd's - please let me know!!!!

I just purchashed this computer, its a hp pavilion a1530n, it has a 250 gb of hard drive. when i went to defrag it told me that i needed to but that i only had 5% left on d and that i needed 15, i did disk clean up and i checked it for errors, there were none. what could be wrong with this dang thing? please help

Why wont the screenshot method ALT+ Printscreen work for me? all my keys work, i rebooted and checked that the language region is correct which it is. how can it be fixed if there is anything wrong?

I don't know a thing about computer and now that i'm shopping for a new one these paticular symbols have stumped me. I know they have something to do with the clock speed of the computer, but can anyone explain the difference between the two and tell me what a 'Good' number is?

i already have a wireless router installed, but i need my new-built desktop have access to wireless network too...

so... wht kind of hardware i need to buy, is it something similar to a "wireless card" used to plug into a laptop?

I am looking to change my Desktop for a laptop, so Portability and battery life are not big issues.

I am getting a bit confused, especially between Intel Core 2 Duo and the AMD Turion x2.

Any advice on which to go for, or any other help for what I should be looking for?

The picture I use on my desktop is a photograph. It has been up there for months now. This morning I can only see the top 1/3 of the picture and the rest of the screen is black.

I have been using it right along now the mouse freezez up or the wi fi card cuts off. I have finally gotten it to tell me that there are too many devices for the wi fi card to work and that I need to remove some devises? what happened that changed things and what do they mean by that. it is a lap top and there is nothing hooked up to it except the wi fi card in the one of the 2 slots. It has the mouse pad and eraser mouse, hard drive and dvd internal. how do I fix this one?

I have an old laptop which has a spare pcmcia slot. the laptop runs puppy Linux I would like to connect the laptop to my wireless network but I don't know which wlan pcmcia card's will run in puppy. Are pcmcia cards the same as PC cards because i do know some PC cards which will run on puppy.

i recently had to have my computer crashed and everything re set up. It is now working except the ports in the back of my harddrive will not detect things. The red, green, and blue ports will not detect my speakers or microphone and the usb port will not detect my webcam. The control pannel says they are not plugged in when they are. I have opened the back of the hard drive to see if anything was lose but everything seemed to be ok. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I am wanting to get to the end of this but do not know how! My computer just seems sluggish and I just don't know what the problem could be.I want it to be as fast as it was when Ifirst installed XP if possible!
Here is some info about my computer

1024 mb ram - 160 gb hdd - pentium 4 ht (hyper threading) - 550w power supply - spire cpu cooler (heatsink) i think its for p4 775 - 64mb graphics adapter (is this poor even though i do not play games? ) - windows xp home service pack 2 - broadband connection (even though irrelevant to pc speed itself)

A few programs used on the computer

AVG anti-virus - Firefox - WMP 11 - Quicktime - Nero 6 - Spybot S&E - BT applications for my broadband - IE7 - Registry Mechanic - Zone Alarm Firewall - Microsoft Office 2003 - Winamp

I constantly run checks for spyware and virus's on my computer but never find any, even on other software brands.

I want to solve the problem, as my pc's performance is not living up to.

When I shut down my computer from the desktop or the tower a few seconds later it turns back on by itself, the only way I can get it to stay off it to unplug it, does anyone have any idea why my computer does this?

The Hard Drive is set as the first device to boot. There are no other media in the other drives. I cannot get to the command prompt by pressing F8 and I have no Windows XP recovery disk as my EasyNote Packard Bell Notebook came with it preinstalled. I don't really want to start unscrewing the computer and taking out hard drives. If this is the only solution then I will get a professional to help.
