When I start my computer "a disk read error occurred".How can I fix it?

The Hard Drive is set as the first device to boot. There are no other media in the other drives. I cannot get to the command prompt by pressing F8 and I have no Windows XP recovery disk as my EasyNote Packard Bell Notebook came with it preinstalled. I don't really want to start unscrewing the computer and taking out hard drives. If this is the only solution then I will get a professional to help.

contact packard bell for a set of recovery discs and replace the hard drive
