Why is my desktop picture mostly black? How do I fix it?

The picture I use on my desktop is a photograph. It has been up there for months now. This morning I can only see the top 1/3 of the picture and the rest of the screen is black.

Why did this happen? What can I do to fix it? Thanks!

left click to properties
then press desktop
choose from a variety

make sure all the plugs are in the right spot because some could have fallen out?? I don't know. Try it! Good Luck.
