I just purchashed this computer, its a hp pavilion a1530n, it has a 250 gb of hard drive. when i went to defrag it told me that i needed to but that i only had 5% left on d and that i needed 15, i did disk clean up and i checked it for errors, there were none. what could be wrong with this dang thing? please help

D: is not the recovery partition, the other guy has no clue. Defrag requires 15% free space to run, and you only have 5%. Look at your free space on the D: drive, then remove any large files that you don't need, or back them up to a USB drive, cd or DVD. This free space is used to temporarily hold files that defrag is moving.

Recovery disk it is not. Windows defragger requires 15% free space to run. some commercial defragger's will work with less, but you will have to buy them. check to see if they will work under 15% space before laying down your money

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

d is the recovery partition you shouldnt be playing in there
