ok I'm hoping that you meant 16GB and not 16MB, big difference, but any IDE or PATA (not SATA). will work for you. Bout $100, will get you 200GBs, so yes you will need to take install XP on there, unless you have a Hard Disk cloning program, you can make an exact copy of your Hard Drive now and put it on your new Hard Drive and not have to install anything. It's actually pretty nice.

Get a 250 and use it as a secondary drive. This way you can keep your 16 mb to run Win XP. It's generally a good idea to have the OS partitioned from the other drives anyway. So get a 250 hdd, internal, and hook it up to the IDE ribbon and power supply in the case. You may have to set the pins in the back of the hdd to cable select or slave. The default might be master. Good luck!

First you need to find one that will work with your current system...There are many different kind. Your hardware folder should tell you what you have. For a price, you can have someone transfer all the data on your old hard-drive onto the new one. That way you don't have to worry about reinstalling anything.A place like tigerdirect will have some good prices.

sounds like you have an older computer based on the fact that it only came with 16 MB of space.... i would recommend to you that you get no bigger than a 40 GB harddrive... and upgrade your Ram... harddrives are interchangeable, so you dont have to worry so much about them.... Ram is a different story.. the best thing to do is to take the Ram that is in you puter out when you go shopping and take it with you for a comparison... as for Windows XP, that should be fine... these actions should speed up your computer immensely

Just buy an IDE hard disk as this will probably be what you are after. You can plug it in as a secondary drive and keep windows on the disk you already have and use your new one for downloading onto and installing stuff onto.
