If your computer is slow, you could have a virus. So I would run your anti virus software. If that does not help try to disable the startup items like the other answer said. Then If that does not work, backup any important items on a disk, Then format your hard drive, and reinstall windows.

go to start then run - and type msconfig

on the next screen click on the statup tab - then click disable all

apply and then restart
