that is a good idea to go with the AM2 with the X2
Your motherboard is good
Hard drive is also good
Ram is good
Video card not to good

The motherboard is a bit useless, sli and crossfire really have no benefit unless running at extremely high resolutions. 2gb of memory would be better, a much better video card (expecally if gaming) - http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html - and stay away from vista. Win XP pro runs much faster and doesn't need as much resources as Vista.
As for prices, just goto www.newegg.com and make a list.

I would go 5200+ or the 5600+. I have the 5200+ and its really good in gamming. as far as video card. get atleast the 7900 cards. I have a 7950 512MEG GT OC.

get atleast a 550W power supply. other than that its a good work up. suggest 2 gig of ram atlest.
