I'm trying to access my webserver from an internal machine, I can do it by using ip address and internal port number, but can not go out to come back in by the my domain name, I know the page is up but I always get an error when I try, the web server is running on a dlink 624s router, any ideas on how to fix this problem.

(it's all the machines on the network that do this)

My house has a Windows PC and Mac mini that both connect to my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. When I'm at home on the network, I can connect to any of the computers using Chicken of the VNC on my own Mac. When I'm away from home I want to be able to remotely fix any problems with the computers because explaining it over the phone is usually too tough. I think this involves DNS updating (so I don't need to memorize IP address), setting fixed IP addresses for the computers so that I always know which one I am connecting to, setting different ports for each one for creating an SSH tunnel (I don't know how to do that), and setting up VNC server programs on each host computer. Any help is appreciated—thank you very much!

I have been given permission to access my computer at work. My employer has set up a VPN for me to access the server, but when I am using the Remote Desktop connection- I am getting an error message - "The client could not connect to the remote computer". I have already made sure that my firewalls are turned off.

I recently bought a wireless Linksys router. I had a router before that was not wireless, working directly off of a phone line, that splits into a DSL line and a phone line. The DSL line connected into that router, and an ethernet cable from that router into the D-Link in the back of my computer.

However, when I plug the DSL cable into my new router, my phone line is cut off. I plugged the ethernet cable into the new router and the D-Link in the back of my computer. However, when I set up the router, I can't get an internet connection.

What is wrong?

I use a wirless connection to use the Net on my Laptop.

I have a problem conecting to IM's and Games, and if they do connect, the connection drops within a few minutes.

And the Internet & Wireless does work, because while this happens I am still able to surf the net and download & etc.....

Any possible fixes?

My parents have high speed cable and live about 5 miles away. How can I set up WiMax (which has a 30 mile range) to share their internet connection so I can use it also. I live in the middle of nowhere and my only option is satellite which is $600-700 for the dish and $100/month for the service.

Any info on costs involved, where to begin, etc. would be helpful.

if so, was wondering how much it cost you for the course, as i'm doing one with skillstrain and i think they're taking the piss, charging over £2,000. For what i'm actually getting for my money, i reckon £2 would be a better figure.

What type do you have and/or do you recommend? Which do you think is the best for internet use with a combination of PC's and MACs? We need to be able to access live feeds and streaming video.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I was wondering if you can help me. I live a few hundred yards away from my brother-in-law and we want to be able to connect our wireless lans together. I have a wireless gaming adapter connected to my LAN which is capable of picking up and connecting to his wireless network. How do i go about getting the networks to talk to each other.
My network is using 192.168.0.x and his is using 192.168.1.x
We aren't worried about sharing each others Internet connection, as that is just the default gateway, we just want each others pc's to be able to communicate.

Any ideas?

I live in a dark land where tortuously slow dial up is the only internet option available. No ISP is willing to come out here. there are free hot spots 10 or 20 miles away and I could drive to them, but that severely limits the times that I can get on simply because I can't drive to the next town late at night and I'm working all day. Are there sweet designs for Wi-Fi antennas that will hit those downtown hot spots from 10-20 miles away with little or no signal loss? Are there antennas that I can buy that will pick up signal from that range? I just want to tell Bellsouth "Here's a spoon, enjoy your dial up". Can I use the plumbing of my house as an antenna? It's copper. How about my house's electrical wiring? What about the grid? That would rock! I'm desperate and I would have to move to get internet. Can I sue my ISP for being happy to keep us in the last century? Any suggestions?

Thanks
