I'm trying to access my webserver from an internal machine, I can do it by using ip address and internal port number, but can not go out to come back in by the my domain name, I know the page is up but I always get an error when I try, the web server is running on a dlink 624s router, any ideas on how to fix this problem.

(it's all the machines on the network that do this)

that is not the trouble, when I try to go using my domain name, it always times out, yet other people from out side my network have no problems, if I use the routers ip:8888 I can get to the web page, but would prefer to usethe domain name to get there, as that gives me a better idea on whats going on, with the ip way, I've got no idea if the page is down or up.

Set your computers dns to use your ISPs dns server instead of the routers. (Take the router IP out of the dns listing period) Amazing what that will do. Basically the router says the domain IP is itself and since it doesn't have a built in dns server it cant find your site. The other option is just add your domain name and local ip to your hosts file.

Add your domain name and local IP to your HOSTS file. That way your system knows how to resolve the name to the local lan address.

you might be viewing the cache of the page which was stored when the page was done at some point in history.

if you have any sofisticated router or proxy server connected between the PCs and the router with the web page, i suggest restarting it or clearing the cache on that proxy server
