Printers are wired to host Windows 98 desktop which is wired to Netgear wireless router; Vista laptop finds router (and both computers successfully use the router for internet access), but can't "see" the Windows 98 desktop or the printers wired to it. I have enabled file sharing on the Windows 98 desktop, added the router's IP address as trusted in my Norton Symantec firewall (and have also tried it with firewall disabled).

I know this makes no sense, why would my neighbors internet use effect my airport, but it is true. Whenever my neighbor logs on, my airport shuts off. I then have to wait a couple minutes b4 i can get my signal back. Ive had my cable company at my house 20 times and they cant figure it out. They always say, there are 75 networks in my area and mine is only one that has this issue. So if anyone out there has any idea of what may be causing this, or even better how i can fix it, PLEASE let me know. This has been a mystery to me now, for about a year, and its starting to drive me mad! I may have to kill my neighbor or steal their computer, please dont let it come to this. help...please.

BSOD: Copied over /repair/software and now can't login!?
My work computer recently stopped working. When I boot it up, it gives me blue screen with hive message can't find system32\config\system. I went into recovery console but it wanted admin password which I don't have and corporate won't give me. I don't want to send it in and wait to get it back, so I hooked up hdd to a desktop and copied c:\windows\repair\software to c:\windows\system32\config\sof... Put hdd back into laptop and booted up and it boots into windows! However, it doesn't recognize my username/password anymore. What can I do to fix this?

What does the network infurstructure look like in commercial sized wireless networks? in a hotel for example.

If the building is about 8 stories high with 30 rooms on each floor.
How many wireless routers will be used on each floor?
How are these routers setup and what configurations are used to?
How can they display the same SSID?
How many rooms can each router cover?

any suggestions or recommandations on brand names of equipment can be helpful.

Whats going on? I have checked my firewalls. I have clicked the "repair" button. No luck. I even tried the ipconfig stuff. Nothing. Unless I am doing something wrong. Help me out please.

((The rest of the computers are picking up the network just fine except my laptop. I even used a wireless card adapter. Same thing happens. Is it my laptop that has the problem? Did I damage the driver somehow?))

ok i'm using a wireless connection, and in the past it was working fine. now my netgear rangemax internet adapter keeps "disconnecting". my windows keep popping up this message saying i unplugged my internet adapter, which i didn't. and then it will attempt to connect back to the internet, then "disconnects" again. its like i keep pulling the usb plug from the internet card and reinserting it.

i can't troubleshoot it because i haven't the foggiest idea what's causing it. it happens very randomly, sometimes the internet is smoothsailing, and then all of the sudden this problem pops up at 5pm until 2am. now it seems ok again.

anyone can help? really appreciate it

I have verizon DSL connected to a dell router. One computer is wired to router, other is wireless. It was working fine until a few weeks ago, now randomly works, but with a weak signal. I've tried reinstalling the routher several times, but same problem occurs sooner or later. Laptop is having trouble finding the wireless router as well once it disconnects. Questions is: Do you believe this is a DSL problem, router problem, or a wireless card in the laptop problem? Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? It has friend my brain.

I have just set up a router which is connected to my main computer by ethernet cable and via wireless card to my laptop. The internet connection is working really well on both terminals but I now want to share files between computers.

I have tried mapping the network drive but the laptop does not find the main computer and vice versa. I also got a USB adapter with the router pack and I have that connected to the router (even though i think I don't need this)

How do i go about setting up the computers to share files when the laptop can't find the main computer.

Main Hub is on XP and laptop is on VISTA, just want to share music and pictures really.

Thanks

Dan
