Well it is possible but here are some items you will need to consider.

1. You will need to see what your DSL provider allows, you will probably need to upgrade your DSL service to a business class service in order to resell it.

2. You wont be able to serve very many with consumer type wifi equipment you should use commercial grade AP's etc.

3. Normal Wifi works in unlicensed spectrum so no FCC lic. is not necessary but all rules concerning power, antennas etc. apply.

4. If your area has DSL.Cable. etc you will have issues reselling wifi because DSL is available and cheap.

In this scenario you probably wont make a profit but you might pay for your DSL.

If you setup to provide connections to areas that DO NOT HAVE dsl cable etc then the profits become very possible and are in demand.

It would all depend on your location, Population density as well as cost to the end consumer. Most people today have an internet connetion already.

Most internet providers frown on reselling their service so that would be another annoyance you would have to deal with.

A more realistic home based solution would be to provide a small web hosting company.

we have come to an age where nearly everybody has wifi in their homes so having one at your hose wont be profitable. the thing about places like starbicks and libraries is that people go there for reasons other than internet. also it is away from home so people from businesses use it when they are NOT at home. you are trying to get people to come to your house to use your internet while paying a fine. ill probably stay at my house. wouldnt you?
