I currently have one desktop computer and one laptop. I have the netgear thing set up to my desktop to get the wireless internet on my laptop.

i'm thinking about buying another desktop and i was wondering if that could also be wireless? can i just pick up the cable internet connection from my main desktop?

are there any wires or anything complicated involved or will it just be like the laptop and it will connect to my main computer?

i'm ok with computers but sometimes i get a little confused with stuff like this. any help would be really appreciated!
thanks!

I am using the Bell Sympatico Speedstream 6520 DSL Router/Modem to connect to the internet, and on each computer the internet works fine. but let's say I want to get some files off of one of the other computers, besides sending them to myself using Messenger, is there a way to make the drive appear like if it was connected to my computer?

They are all running Windows XP except for 1 which is running Windows 2000. And they are all connected to the router using an ethernet cable, except for one which is wireless.

I have searched and searched, intel, forums, but still no luck,

Preference for someone with telecomm hardware/communications background look at this...

My company hosts 20-30 web sites and we currently have SDSL service 768K Down/768K Up about 179/month. We can get ADSL service of 4M Down/768K Up for about 99/month with static IPs.

But I have heard with ADSL vs. SDSL there are inherent differences in the technical architecture and you cannot just think about the speeds that are quoted. Even if the speeds quoted were the same, SDSL would either be faster or more reliable than ADSL?

Any comments on ADSL vs. SDSL related to:
1) communication infrastructure (protocols, equipment, etc)
2) impact of other 'neighborhood users' on my speed
3) reliability
4) other

Thank you

The path to the shared folder on the network is:
\\raymond1\mark
at least from Windows. How do I connect to this from Ubuntu Linux, and where do I find it once I have connected?

The shared folder has no password/security - any machine connected to my network can access it freely, so there's no complications with security.

If you have any questions about my network, either machine, the shared folder etc. please message me before answering and I will do my best to provide you with the information you need to answer!

I have 2 laptop computers that WERE connected wirelessly to my router (Linksys WRT54G).
I have just added 2 wireless video cameras to my house to help catch a thief in the neighborhood.
Both the router and the cameras are on the 2.4GHz band and the cameras are knocking out the router.
I have tried changing the channel on the router and changing the channel on the cameras, but nothing seems to work.
As soon as I unplug the cameras the wireless internet comes back up. Plug in the cameras and POOF, no more internet (or home network).
Are there any alternatives other than hard wiring either the cameras or the network???
Thanks.
