The easiest way to hook up anything, especially a router, is to follow the install guide that comes with it. I answer so many install questions here and I know most of them are answered in the install guides of the equipment....

make sure you buy the 4 most reliable routers for a start, viz Linksys, Netgear, Belkin or D-link. Any other brands out there, you might find a bit more difficult in getting support. Then ensure first that your connection by conventional modem is ok and you can browse the internet. Once thats confirmed running well, hook up your wireless router to the modem. Then start configuring the wireless router. Do enable security straight away, use WEP or WPA. The manual has instructions and you do the configuration on a browser through IE. Its very easy, but some people pay $100 to get a technician out to connect. They stay for 1/2 an hour and we think it must be a hard job, no.... unless you're enabling a LAN in your household or business, as folder sharing, accessing "My network places" is slightly trickier.

Just follow the instructions that came with the router. Don't get creative. Follow their instructions.

Ummmm, plug it in. Most routers come with dummy proof instructions with pictures and such. It is not hard. All you need is an Internet connection, router and receiver in you computer.
