I have 2 laptop computers that WERE connected wirelessly to my router (Linksys WRT54G).
I have just added 2 wireless video cameras to my house to help catch a thief in the neighborhood.
Both the router and the cameras are on the 2.4GHz band and the cameras are knocking out the router.
I have tried changing the channel on the router and changing the channel on the cameras, but nothing seems to work.
As soon as I unplug the cameras the wireless internet comes back up. Plug in the cameras and POOF, no more internet (or home network).
Are there any alternatives other than hard wiring either the cameras or the network???
Thanks.

Most wireless cameras use a very wide signal in order to broadcast good video. About all you can do if the cameras allow it is put them on channel 1 and your router on 11 (US channels) those will probably be far enough apart to work together.

If you use channel 1 and 2 the cameras will kill the network. If you can just connect the cameras into the router? . If you have pure video cams you have a totally different issue you really want network cams they just become part of the computer network and you log into them just like any other computer on the system.. they don't interfere.

You need to do one of two things:
1) Change the router to a type B or N speed which operates in a different frequency
2) change the cameras to a different frequency.

The two are conflicting, just like a cordless phone operating in 2.4 ghz knocks out a router operating at same freq.

i think of the wording of your question could be throwing human beings off. you're suited that maximum modern laptops that have integrated ethernet even have integrated prompt skill. they are no longer an identical ingredient, yet electronically they're often on an identical chip. It expenditures the seller particularly much no longer something to incorporate it. examine the specs on your variety and notice. look in the administration panel/gadget supervisor/community panel. in case you have a prompt adapter it is going to take place as a seperate gadget from the integrated under pressure adapter. in case you do in actuality have prompt, then you somewhat can set up an "advert-hoc" prompt connection between that adapter and a prompt gadget like a prompt digital camera. No prompt router is needed while you're no longer additionally connecting to the internet. it relatively is merely an area connection between the gadgets. the stairs variety based upon your working gadget yet you will come across training on the cyber web. in case you have Vista case in point, Google "Vista advert-hoc prompt". in case you do not have integrated prompt, you should purchase a USB prompt adapter very value effectively. Plug it in and enable it configure, then proceed with the advert-hoc community merely like above. while you're at it, examine to verify in the experience that your computing device has "Blue the teeth". it relatively is yet another prompt technologies that would enable an area connection to a prompt digital camera.
