I currently have one desktop computer and one laptop. I have the netgear thing set up to my desktop to get the wireless internet on my laptop.

i'm thinking about buying another desktop and i was wondering if that could also be wireless? can i just pick up the cable internet connection from my main desktop?

are there any wires or anything complicated involved or will it just be like the laptop and it will connect to my main computer?

i'm ok with computers but sometimes i get a little confused with stuff like this. any help would be really appreciated!
thanks!

Yup--mine's set up for it.

The wireless router is attached to the cable modem. The laptops are all wireless, and the desktop has a wireless USB dongle (had to extend it out about 6' from the printer/monitor to improve reception).

The wireless router has a good/easy tutorial on how to set it up, set up the laptops, set up the wireless USB, and awaaaaayy I go!

I couldn't gather from your question if you were using a wireless router.

If you go to your local computer store they will have plenty of information for you. I recommend Microcenter (www.microcenter.com) if you have one in your area. It is very feasible to have wireless on a desktop. You will need to buy a wireless internet card which is simple to install. You local computer store will install it if you want but it will be expensive since they like taking advantage of people like you who are not computer talanted. The card you buy will contain detailed instructions on instalation, but you need a wireless router. If you don't know what a router is, it is a seperate box that connects to your current source of internet connection. I can't suggest anything but going to a store and talking to someone in person. A simple home internet connection is nothing a highschool kid doesn't understand so don't think people have no idea what they are talking about.

It's fairly simple, buy a PCI wireless card and install it then run the setup CD that comes with. I've been working with wireless for quite some time and of all the brand names I've used, I recommend Linsys. Another choice you may consider if you don't want to open the PC, is to buy a USB wifi adapter and cost about $40.00. Just plug it into the USB port and run the setup CD.

hi: If a working laptop or computing gadget has a slot for a card, you may actually get a card, yet i've got seen prompt community taking part in cards for desktops that seems such as you should establish them particularly actually or use a USB type. look into MicroCenter's 54G prompt PCI computing gadget community Card for an occasion of the cardboard, and prompt G 54Mbps USB community Adapter for a USB type. the two a sort of incorporate around $40 or so. desire this facilitates.
