most routers, and that is what you need, will work right out of the box IF YOU FOLLOW the instructions on the CD that comes with it. I have installed a Linksys 54G and a Belkin 54 router and both worked just fine.

What you're talking about here is a 'modem router'. It would connect to your phone line in place of your current modem & then send out a 'wireless' signal that your laptop will then pick up providing your internet connection. Your existing pc will need a wireless card/usb wireless device of some kind to enable connection in this way also. (You could 'hard-wire' your pc to the router tho, and just have the laptop as wireless). Either way would work. And, yes they are pretty much universal.

As most laptops come with 802.11b or 802.11b/g, then be sure to get the same type. This will insure compatibility.

Physically, the router would connect to the modem (through the WAN port). If you are ONLY using a wireless laptop, then there will be no physical connection to the laptop from the wireless router. You will probably need to connect to it physically to set it up the very first time.

Most wireless routers have a step-by-step guide on how to set them up.

Yes, a wireless router would allow you to share your broadband. You would plug your modem output into it, and then all the computers you want to get internet would connect through the router. As far as which one to pick, some are better then others, and some are more secure then others. The only other thing is if your computer uses ethernet cord to plug in, you would need to get a router with both ethernet and wireless, or convert your current computer to wireless.

If you have a wireless router nothing else is needed if the laptop is wireless enabled. They are pretty universal however I prefer linksys and have had good luck with them. Make sure you get the same frequency that comes with the laptop.

all you need is a wireless router and so set p that router on your new laptop. I would get one thats 802.11G (just get the number nevermind what it means) it would connect with your existing broadband router, and router which your laptop can use will work

First, "the ladies" are not attracted to somebody who sees us as one entity. 2d, you seem wanting to get with a woman and we are able to %. up on that. do no longer desire it so undesirable. there is not any longer something incorrect with asserting hi yet do no longer anticipate some thing to return out of each and every communique you have with a woman. only be large. 9 out of 10 cases you will comprehend if we are involved. perfect strangers in all possibility are not your ultimate guess the two, and friends are friends for a reason, and regularly make the final dating. And yea, end trollin ^__^*
