QUICK SHUTDOWN

If you want, you can avoid clicking Start and Shutdown every single time. The shortcut on the desktop takes care of it. To set it up:

On the Windows desktop, right-click and select New and Shortcut.

In the command or target line path, if your operating system is Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME, type the following exactly:

C:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows

Please note that there is a space between the first instance of "exe" and "user". There are no other spaces. You may want to copy and paste it so it's exact.

If you are using Windows XP, in the command or target line path, type the following exactly: You may want to copy and paste it so it's exact.

SHUTDOWN -s -t 01

Please note the spaces before the hyphens and after "t". These are DOS commands, the rest will populate itself.

Click Next, name the shortcut and click Finish. Now find the shortcut you placed on the desktop or where ever right click properties click the shortcut tab on top press the tab key twice until you blinking cursor is at the end of the word "None" in the shortcut key box, it won't let you manually delete the word none and type in your shortcut simply hold the keys down you wish to use for it...I used Ctrl+Alt+X but it can be any combination of keys...ctrl+shift+4 if you like as soon as you press the keys the box will fill in with the keyboard combination. Do not use keys already assigned to see the common assigned keys click the link below. There now you made a system macro and it will work. I don't like click here, click there, click everywhere just to shut down and Ctrl+Alt+Delete reboots the pc. If you want to Shut all the way down this is the best way I've figured out since 95.

Ctrl Alt Delete, not backspace, delete, just hold them, also holding the power button down or unplugging it

YOu would have to program that onto the keyboard.

Or

You can create an ICON on the desk top that will shut down with one click.

Right click on the desk top Click on NEW > Short Cut

in the Target Box type - C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -f -s -t 00
