Hi
How do I get an Email address from my ISP? I'm with Wanadoo, do I just send them an Email (from another account e.g Yahoo) asking them to give me a new Email address, which I can use with Microsoft Office Outlook, or is there more to it than that?
I have just bought a brand new Packard Bell laptop, so I was assuming I would get an Email address straight away if I asked my ISP.
Thank you very much in advance.
Rachel

It's obvious that it's physical star b/c the way machines are connected. In my book, a number of computers are connected to a central hub.

But I don't get why it's logical bus. Someone here was saying it's because data will be sent through all machines which is the characteristic of the bus topology.

But, then again, in a logical star, it seems the data should reach all machines as well because we have a central device (a hub, in this case) to pass information to all computers. Therefore, there's no difference between the logical bus and logical star. Then, how can we conclude it's a logical bus?

Thanks in advance!

I asked the owner of the satellite antenna and he said that he had just changed his modem when my connection dropped out. Now it's late and the owner is most likely asleep and I have good signal and no drop outs yet. So I'm thinking he was hogging the bandwidth causing me to lose or have a weak signal.

Would my assumption be correct?

What are my options if it is?

Thanks.

I put the WEP key in, but just get error:
"the selected network uses an access control list to restrict access and this computer is not on the list.
see the administrator for access"
bah. have poked around the Livebox for any options to add my laptop to this 'list', but no dice.

With ADSL you may not get your allocated full bandwidth as this depends on how many users in your area use the same service and with DSL that is not the case.

Is that a true statement? Are there any other advantages of DSL over ADSL?

I'm upgrading my internet service from dial-up to DSL (1.5-3.0 Mbps), and I need an inexpensive ethernet card for the ADSL modem which will be sent in the mail by my sevice provider. I have no clue what to look for in an ethernet card and would appreciate any recommendations - Thanks!
