None of these is a 'must'.

I'm guessing they're looking for "C", but the answer is really "E" - none of the above. The web is not the entirety of the Internet. In fact, there are machines connected to the Internet that don't run a single piece of software that speaks the HTTP protocol.

My Commodore 64 can go on the Internet, and that doesn't have a CD-ROM.

I can get around Windows pretty well without a mouse if I have to.

And a fax machine? Totally different world...

are you able to supply greater advice approximately what your broadband field is? Is it a cable modem presented by using NTL or comparable? if so, attempt disconnecting the capacity on your router and the broadband "field" and depart them for a pair of minute. capacity up your router and supply it a pair of minute to get going. Then capacity up your broadband "field". Use a 2nd Ethernet cable to connect your workstation to the router and run the installation disk. After each and every thing is put in, disconnect the cable from the workstation to the router and attempt making a on the spot connection.

1st, a modem (either dial up or DSL modem),
2nd a communication line (telephone line for dial up, DSL line for DSL),
3rd router (if you are using DSL).
4th, an internet service account (which give you user name and password for internet access)

All above is hardware and account things, for software, Windows or linux OS with IE or Fire-fox will do.
