I have done a release and renew and it says "The DHCP Client has obtained an IP adress that is already in use on teh network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new adress" What should I do next? I mean it works fine if I assign a static IP but once I take that off it won't work. Any suggestions?

I have 2 desktop PC's connected via broadband through a Belkin wired router/gateway & I want to add my wireless laptop to the newtork. I have just purchased a Linksys wireless G broadband router with speed booster.
Is it really as simple as unplugging everything from the Belkin wired router and plugging everything into the Linksys wireless router? and is there a screenshot I can take of the present settings for the wired router? (I assume these settings can then go into the wirless router setttings).
At present I can piggyback other insecure wirless connections through my laptop but cannot connect to my network, so this change to Linksys that deals with wired and wireless connections, aparently, seems the best thing to do.
Any helpful advice received with many thanks.

I joined Yahoo! 360° (which is like MySpace, Friendster, etc.) a couple of months ago. At first I only invited "real life" friends to my "friends list"; however, I've recently started adding people I met on 360° to my "friends list". On one hand, it's nice to be able to see when they update their 360° pages. On the other hand, it feels a little weird to me to be adding virtual strangers to my "friends list". I guess every friendship has to start somewhere... But I would like to know what others think...

The connection appears under available networks, but when I click properties, there is no WPA option under the association tab. On other computers I have seen a drop down menu allowing for a selection between WEP and WPA, but there is only a checkbox for "Data encryption (WEP enabled)" and "Network Authentication (Shared mode)." I can connect onto the WPA-PSK secured network on my other computer so I know it's not a problem at the host computer's side.
My network card is Broadcom 54g Maxperformance 802.11g.
I'm running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 1. I need WPA, it is not possible for me to switch to WEP.

Seems like a needless redundancy of the IP address, but the documentation stresses its importance. Since I am not a math whiz, can anyone explain the purpose of subnet, please without the binary stuff. I got like a 63 in math about fifty years ago.
