KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch is perhaps the most popular device that enable you connect 2 or more PCs to 1 monitor, one mouse, one keyboard. Please note that there are specially made KVM cables that should be used to connect the 3 peripherals (keyboard, video monitor, and mouse). It the cables didnt come with the KVM you would need to purchase them separately.
The KVM has a switch that allow you to switch between PC1 and PC2 (case of 2 computers). When you turn the switch to the desired PC, the running program on the PC would be displayed on the monitor.
If you are likely to add 1 or 2 PCs in due course, I will suggest that you purchase at least a 4-way KVM switch - this will allow up to 4 computers to be connected to one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse.

Bet an AB video switch, usually available at computer supply stores or many on-line stores, such as newegg.com. The cable to the monitor attaches to one port on the back then two other monitor cables go between the switch and the computer. Then you just turn the knob to go between monitors. They probably have electronic models of the same switch.

You will need to purchase a KVM box. Allows you to attach multiple PCs to one monitor, mouse and keyboard. Start at around $40. Google "kvm" for sites that sell them.

You should look at a KVM switch. Check out the ATEN's ones at
www.aten.com. Something like the CS-62U should be quite handy.
