Password Verification?

When I open my Windows Messenger, a popup appears and given three steps to follow so as to verify password. But the question is no found as seen. How to verify?

Sign in to www.live.com (Microsoft Live site)
Go to Options or Account Options (I forget which)
Choose to Verify Account
They'll send you a verification email.
Click the link in the email.

I just did this for my own account and it worked fine.
