The best way to solve this problem is to secure your wireless network. It's very easy to do. Go to the manufacturers website and search for WEP. It will give you specific instructions on how to do this. It will take you 5 minutes!
Otherwise, you can download programs that will "watch" for an intruder on your system. The PC will possibly slow down as your bandwidth is being used. Most of the time, you will not know if someone is on your network.

Why would you want to run your network unsecure? And if you do why do you object when someone makes use of this?
BTW I hope that realize that not only can they use your internet connection. They can snoop on you just ast easy (maybe easier if they know what they are doing) as you can on them.
Also if you share anything they will have access to it. And even if you don't it isn't hard to get access to anything on your computer.
So again I ask why would you want to do this?
Find out how to secure your network.

Some wireless routers or access points have two blinking lights, one showing activity on the wired side and the other showing activity on the radio side. If the radio-side light is blinking, and you are not generating any wireless traffic to or from the router, then someone else is.

Your computer doesn't care...YOU CARE....You have to set up a program that scans your network for new computers logged on...no, just kidding...if you are using Windows XP look in your network neighborhood...See if there are computers whose names you don't recognize. There might be a utility out there that will warn you, but I am not aware of one.

There is software called a sniffer, which you can use to monitor traffic on your network.
It would be preferrable to make your network more secure, by turning of broadcast and using MAC filtering along with installation of a firewall.

secure your network, you may cofigure the settings of your router and assign ip addresses that you can put on your network so intruders cannot access your network.

You should probably check in your wireless router setting and status page, it should tell you if anyone is connected.
