Does a house that enables cable T.V. as with Life-time, and many channels.........can that be considered a HOT SPOT as like at the airport? At the airport, someone could plug-in a laptop and get connected to the internet (if that person has the correct settings for that purpose).

Please respond.

Does this mean that the firewall is blocking the wireless network from working? Is it possible to be connected wirelessly and have a firewall protection at the same time?

Very confused- That's my life these days!

Hi, I am trying to set up a home network. I have something that is either a router, a hub, or a switch, and Im not sure what it is, or what the difference is between all of them.

I read that a cable router can receive one ip address, and give different IP addresses within the intranet. Well, my whatever has like 10 plugs in on the front, and when I have two computers on the network, Windows tells me that I have IP conflicts. Does this mean that I dont have a router and I should buy one?

I have a game that I am trying to play in multiplayer mode (Star Trek Armada 2) but in order to host a game your externally known IP adress can not be different from your Local IP adress (this prevents others from seeing the games that I create). Is there any way to get around this or change my Local IP adress to be the same as my externally known IP adress?

I have a cable modem hooked to a wireless router (Airport Express) and this problem has gotten so bad that I have had to install an on/off switch to go to the modem, since there wasn't one on there already. It seems to happen when I am searching several sites at once, streaming AirTunes, file transfers, etc. (aka. a lot of network activity). Would changing my my multicast setting help? Please note that I'm on a Mac

MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.4.7, Airport Express V6.3, the computer and router are usuallly only about 3 feet apart. Thanks in advance!

I want to use my Cisco PIX 501 as a NATing device. My modem IP is 10.20.23.1 255.255.255.0 which means the outside IP address of the 501 is 10.20.23.2 255.255.255.0 the inside address is 192.168.200.1 255.255.255.0
Can anyone help please with a script to NAT between 192.168.200.x to the 10.20.23.2 addresses. The gateway address I assume is the 192.168.200.1?

I have an Adelphia RCA Broadband modem connected to a Sunrocket phone router, connected to a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router. I'm pretty positive that it's all connected correctly. Here's my problem, my connection keeps dying on either Xbox Live, the phones, or my computer all at once if you try to use more then one at once. It's either only the computer, only the phone, or only Xbox Live, or it all dies. And it's annoying to start it back up. I'm pretty sure it's having some problems with the Ip address, because it works as long as you use one at a time. How do I make each modem and router have it's own seperate Ip address?

Thanks
