I Currently have Dial Up, 1 laptop and 2 desktops.
All have ethernet ports but my apartment does not. I purchased a router and now cannot set up because I do not have an ethernet wall port.

Will I need to purchase a high speed ISP (Comcast, etc.) in order to hook up to a wireless network.

Is there a port I can purchase that does not have to be connected to my apartment.?

I am soooooo lost!! HELP

I just bought this router from Linksys (WRT54G) and it doesn't have WEP encrytion. What other ways can I protect my network, so my neigbors don't try and use my internet connection?

Please lick on the link to see item's specifications.

I am looking for a Forum that one can ask questions relating to PC hardware / Software issues. Hopefully it's a forum where the Questions are answered quickly.

Any recommendations?

note: please no Google Search answers. I am looking for personal recommendations. Also, I have tried using Yahoo Answers and was unable to get any answers.

I'm needing to describe a LAN/WAN scenario that is truly enterprise in nature (not with VPN's). What would such an enterprise be called? There is some kind of terminology out there, but I just cannot find it, and need some help understanding how to explain that (just because the enterprise extends out across both state and countries) it's not using the public Internet, nor VPN's over public lines. This is similar to RFC 1918, but there is different wording/terminology used for it on the WAN end.

*****PLEASE ONLY REPLY IF YOU HAVE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT I AM TRYING TO DESCRIBE HERE*****

I'm not talking about the LAN side of this. I am asking how is the best way to describe a true enterprise (the WAN side).

There is a misconception by some that a WAN is going to use the Internet. I know this is not true because I know there are leased lines that can be configured for a WAN. I need more specifics.

Thanks

I currently have 1 Cisco 3550 switch but have filled up all the GBIC ports with 2970 switches, i need more 2970 switches added to the LAN, i have another spare 3550 switch but need to know how to stack both 3550's to give me this greater capacity? I believe i need a Gigastack GBIC Connector to connect both 3550's together but what do i do then? How do i configure them? surely it's not as simply as plug and play? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a notebook and a desktop and instead of constantly having to relly on a memory stick to transfer files and info from one to the other, I would like to know if I can use FTP instead.

The 2 machines are right next to each other on the same desk, they are connected via a lan Hub and share an internet connection and a single modem.

How can I get this working simply?

Thanks
