Log into your router and add a WEP key. It will probably be on the security tab or something similar.
Then you just reconnect and it will ask for the key on the other side. Put the same thing in there
WEP isn't really secure, but it keeps most people out. The 64 bit version needs 10 digits so you phone number with area code is easy to remember. There are ways to crack it so that is really secure enough.

I think you really want to prevent them from stealing your network. You need to enable encryption on your router and enter a encryption key. If you have a choice pick WPA over WEP. Write the code down that you enter as you will need it later. Once you entered and saved the code in the router, you will need to enter the code in your wireless client under the profile you are using to connect to the router.

Check the configuration manual of your router / switch / hub. In the security section (or network connection settings) you can specify a "pass phrase". All machines connecting must have the same pass phrase to make connection. You can also increase the level of security. Good luck.
