I have a wireless network at my house and wish to connect a mac to it through its air port, however it will not connect properly even with the correct password on it

check the security settings on the wireless router.if its is wpa or wpa2 , check with mac and make sure your airport supports it.

if its wep you are using , then when entering the key try the key alone..
if that fails , put a '$' sign and then enter key.. it should work..

I had no problem at all with this!
I just turned on the Airport connect, shut down the "Internet Connect" on my G4 Powerbook, and it seemed to work out what was needed, and do it!
Mind you, I don't have a password on my network, so maybe that is the issue

You need to put a $ in front of the password. It should work then.
