i been to a libary and i saw one PC which joined few screens and keyboard and mouse via a 'Box'. the box made a few screens and keyboard into a Network. The box was mainly connected to the main pc (it was a full PC with a hard drive and things)
even though it was the internet and other things was slow, it did the job so my main question is what is that box called?

I have a PC and a notebook, the pc is connected to a printer and a router which allows couple of pc's to be connected to the DSL, now the pc and the notebook are both connceted to the router.

What i am trying to do is making the printer available to the notebook too, i made the following:-
Properties--->Sharing--->then choosing a share name.

I did the above for both the pc and notebook, do i have to create the same name in "Share Name" for them both? or is it okay if they carry different names? What is the right thing to do?

I want to have multiple ip addresses. All I want to do is execute 1 line automatically as root at or near the end of startup.

/sbin/ifconfig eth0:1 192.168.1.245

Where can / should I put this? (not an rc file, please. It should not take 200 lines of script to do this).

I am a dial-up user ready to upgrade. I'm interested in wireless. Is it possible to go wireless with a DSL account, or is something better needed? I use a little known, low-cost ISP, Archerserve, they offer broadband, but they told me they don't offer wireless. I wonder if that just means they can't help with the set-up; that's not a problem anyway, equipment and set-up help are available elsewhere.

Another issue for me is maximum coverage area; I travel worldwide, and would like service that I can access from vitually anywhere.

I have a new HP laptop running XP. I have two desktops running XP that are currently networked via a LinksysG (model WRT54GS v4). The network is encrypted with WEP. I have been able to add the laptop to the network and access the internet but I am having trouble accessing the shared printers and files on the desktops from the laptop. I can see the laptop from the other computers when I view the workgroup, but I can't see the other computers when I view the workgroup from the laptop. When I have tried to add a shared printer I get a message that I may not have permission....contact the administrator). I have stepped through the help files several times with no success. PLEASE HELP!

I have a westell wireless dsl modem which hooked up with the dsl already. I've bought a belkin 802.11g PCMCIA card for my laptop but it doesn't recieved enough reception. So I'm thinking to get a MIMO PCMCIA card for a better coverage.

My question is do I need a MIMO router to work with the MIMO card to gain a better coverage?

Thanks
Aaron C.

I met this person in late 80's. We both worked at Lipsig, Sullivan & Liapakis. I believe she is now a social worker - maybe retired or remarried.
