Set up filters in outlook express (see below)

Get an online mail account such as Yahoo as the spam filters are good, and use yahoo email address for signing up to anything online don't use your BT email as you have for signing up here as spammers will flood your mailbox

First of all, if you have newsletters.. unsubscribe them.. (don't ever subscribe again to newsletters you don't want)... then if an email keeps showing up from the same EMAIL ADDRESS, you can block it by clicking SPAM, you have to do this manually when a new email address sends you unwanted emails.

Tell your friends to include ** in the subject line to you and put them in emails you send. Set up a filter to filter all subject containing ** to a special email box Also filter known good senders to this box. Direct all other mails to a suspect account that you review when you feel like it.

If you are using an email browser, usually its Outlook, change to Thunderbird.

http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/

This has it's own reliable junk filter (you have to turn it on) and you can import all your contacts from Outlook. If you are using WebMail from BT they do have a junk filter so I would download your mail to a browser and watch that junk box fill up. It is worth checking to see if any mail get delivered in this folder that you want, if there is just tell Thunderbird it aint junk and transfer it to your inbox.
