I inadverdently sent an email to someone and would like to retract it. The address is cgg6@gottadive.com. It was sent on Friday Sept 8th. Is this possible? Thank you Judith

Only AOL had a feature where by if you were sending an email to another AOL use you could retract it. I do not know of any other carrier that offers this.

Be more careful in the future!

The only thing you can do is issue a retraction statement or an apology or even a correction. Once the email is sent, they have it. The cat is out of the bag.

I don't know of any way to retract an email that has gone into the internet. Networks like AOL or a company with intranet allow you to retract it as long as it has not been read.

Unless the message is held in the outbox of your email client and has not actually been sent, then no it can not be deleted. In the off chance that you composed the mail while off line and have not yet connected to the mail server you can remove it from the out box and stop it from going out.

There's a certain email program that lets you do that (it has a feature called "oops!"), but I don't know what it is. There sure have been many times when I needed that!
