Hi yasmin
It seems that you have an internet connection and do a lot of surfing and downloads(which are one of the reasons of getting viruses) or running corrupt CD's or floppys.
Anyway try a full blown version of a good antivirus like norton that also works as an internet firewall. If you have it already then make sure that the settings are ok.and still if you have the problem then better go for a professional help.

I'm going to give you an "unstandard" answer. What makes you think you have a virus?
Just because your computer hangs or crashes doesn't prove you have a virus. Many of times I have seen people blame virus for poorly written software or bad drivers.
If you have a good virus program and it is up to date and it doesn't tell you that you have a virus, then maybe you don't have one?
BTW Want know something? I don't have a virus scan program at home. No reason for it. I or my wife have NEVER had a virus. We are careful about what we download. We have a very good backup system too just in case.
Yes I use one at work, I have too. There are too many people there that will open that "I luv you" attachment.
But make no mistake even at work I have never had a virus on my machines, and I administrate about 15 machines. Oh I have had a virus program tell me that if found a virus. But that text file it found is never going to hurt me!
And I have had virus programs throw away source code (as in text files) as they are checked in. I can say with certainty I have had more problems with virus programs then viruses. Your luck may vary depending on your behavior.
Virus scan programs look for patterns they aren't really smart enough to be certain of a virus. That is why they have to be constantly updated. A virus first attacks someone, and then they make a pattern to try to catch that virus.

Download AVG Free Edition for antivirus and Adaware SE for spyware removal.
Reboot your computer and hit F8 for the Advanced Startup Options and select Safe Mode with Networking. And download the programs, update the signatures, scan and then reboot into windows and run a scan again as a backup scan to see if you got it.
If you have virus protection you may need to invest into something that gets the problem done and not pops up and just warns you. My primary antivirus protection is AVG Free Edition.
AVG works and thats what I tell my clients and whoever else I talk to.

Standard Answer, Have you updated your virus program? If you are sure its a Virus and not some adwear or spywear then you need to find out what type of virus it is and run a search on the internet on that virus, most of the time you can find answers and programs that will get rid of the virus for you. But most of all keep your Virus program up to date. I use a free virus program called AVG it updates itself everday so I dont have to worry about it.

Well it depends on the type of anti virus things you have. You could also use some adware/spyware remover if you don't already have one. I recommend Avast! Antivirus for the antivirus and Ad-Aware SE Personal for the adware/spyware remover. If your computer is logging in slow and such.. get WinPatrol, it allows you to shut off a lot of start up programs and lessen the load time. If worse comes to worse.. back up as many files as you can onto discs/external harddrives/extra internal hard drives/flash drives and just reformat your hard drive. Make sure you have your original discs to re-install your operating system. Best of luck.

a individual who browses effectively, or responsibly, gets little or no viruses. you will each so often acquire viruses, and it rather is achieveable you have some viruses and you don't comprehend approximately it. laptop viruses may be over-rated, meaning, they do no longer look to be that complicated to repair and every person with hassle-free sense can acquire Malwarebytes or different utility and fasten it. in spite of the fact that, the many times used individual freaks out while they get an outbreak, and that's the reason people like me have jobs lol. be conscious: You asked the question. abode windows ninety 8 is extra vulnerable than you already know.

have you tried other anti-virus? your antivir might be outdated already... if you seldom update it, maybe your computer carries too much info, that is why it often hangs... try ro free some of its memory... first, remove downloaded files that you are not using anymore like games, vlips etc. deleting them is not enough though as their programs still remain in your computer's memory, go to the start button on the lower left of your screen, click settings, then select add/remove programs, select idle programs like expired games etc., then click remove, then try to further clean your system and remove *.tmp files, these are temporary files that the pc gets whenever we browse or download from the internet, then remove *.jpg / *.bmp files or pictures that you don't need...
i hope these helps...
good luck!

Bestway is:
Remove your HDD (Hard disk), connect it to another computer where there is reliable virus scanner as secondary drive. Then using that PC's harddisk, boot the PC, scan your hard drive fully. It will solve the issue.
