fully run. It runs if put on choke, but when I put it into the regular operating setting, it sputters, then dies. I tried spraying carberatuer cleaner in it, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Any ideas?

I didn't notice it didn't have the filter until it stopped working.

i have a old style points distributor , when i turn the key switch on it burns my points up,melting everything points,rotor,cap what could be the problem ? this is on a 1975 mercedes 230 distributor ,the car was running just fine , and i parked it for about 30 min or so and it started smoking inside the distributor , it was melting my points , could this be a bad coil >?

I realize there would be holes where the spoiler connected to the trunk, but can I fill these holes in myself? Is it easy that even a bonehead like myself can do? Or must I take it to a shop?

I am buying a G35 coupe, but I want the Bose system, problem is, the package the Bose system comes in, also comes with a spoiler, which I believe completely destroys the lines of the G coupe.

When a mechanic says I need my brakes replaced does that mean just the brake pads or could it mean other parts I need replaced as well? How do you know when you need rotors replaced?

Truck just died while idling (sp). Didn't sputter or anything just died. When I tried to crank it again, none of the dash gages let up, and now the radio doesn't come on and the windows didn't roll up.

Checked all the fuses on the side panel and under the hood, and all looked good. Some of the black fuses and silver ones you aren't able to tell if they are blown. Any thoughts?

Okay I have a 1991 Chevy beretta, and I just started a new job, and I will need to take the expressway about 15 to 20 minutes every morning to get there. Is driving a 91 on the express way bad for my car? if so, why? plus the potholes in the road, can they crack parts under your car, or shake something loose?

i have a 2000 dodge, with power windows, the drivers side i was rollin it down yesterday and it stopped 2 in. down and now wont go up or down....so i thought maybe a fuse... i looked at the fuse and it didnt look worn out so i didnt replace it.. today i got in and tried to roll it down ..and nothing....then before i got out of car i tried again and it went up so i tried to put it down..and again just 2 inches down and now its stuck...wont move anymore at all... what could this be?? it is only the drivers side..passenger is fine...help!!!

I have a cylinder 1 misfire on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport with 64K miles. I took it in for a diagnosis and all minor things checked out ok. Shop says it may be one of 4 items:

1.broken valve spring
2.recessed valve
3.burnt valve
4.cracked head

They said the only way to tell for sure is to open the engine which is about $250 in labor. If it just the valve spring they said it would another $350 to repair. If it is the valve or the head the repair would probably come close to $2000 maybe more if other cylinders are damaged.

My first questions is does the diagnosis sound plausible with a car with 64K miles on it.

Also I got my car apprasied at CarMax and they offered my $3500 for it knowing about the cylinder 1 misfire. Do you think I should take them up on the offer? Consider KBB is $3940 trade in on a vehicle in fair condition.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what is included in the 15,000 mile check up? I do think I was given an book and I want to know why it is $230. I called them and all the lady told me was the same stuff you get when you do the regular every 5,000 mile checkup. But usually it only cost $60. Why so much higher for the 15,000 mile? Thanks

ok my when i went out this morning whikle leaving work. my car had no power, lights nothing. I jiggled the positive side of my baterie cable, my lights went on, I put the key in the ignition and it went dead again. A guy at my job gave me a jump. It started right away as soon as our cars were hooked. I drove it home and on my way home the dash lights were dimming.
I left it run for a few min after I got home. I shut it off, then it was dead again. the battery was bought new this december. It is very cold here this morning. my car is a 2002 chevey cavileir.
does anyone know? If it is the alternater, are they easy to put in? could my husband do it? how much do you think this will run me??? Im in minnesota if price varies from state to state.

It is fine when idling.. doesn't backfire whatsoever. But when i engage the gears and accelerate it backfires at low rpm, but only low rpm (as far as i can tell anyway, i might not be able to hear it).

There also seems to be less power overall... so what should I be addressing?

I have a 1994 probe and I am having a problem with the clutch.

When you press the clutch it stays down and you have to manually put it back up.

I put a new clutch slave cylinder and a new clutch cylinder and both cylinder hook to the master cylinder, brakes are working fine though

so what is wrong?

I have 2 vehicles and one battery. I was switching the battery out back and forth one day and when i put the battery in my van i messed up and hooked the terminals up to the wrong posts. Did i just fry the battery or what else could wrong? Im not usually that stupid....just for the record.

how can I polish a scratch from my wiper on my 71 jaguar XKE. I know 3M makes a sand paper to remove the scratch, but what do I use to polish out the haze? I was told use RHODITE? Its a powder you mix with water ... does this work?
