As far as stains go you can use a common household item that works wonders.

Crazy as it may sound, a can of foam shaving cream will get stains right out.

Spray the foam on the stain, take a wet rag and rub the foam into the stain really good. Take a second wet rags and rub the area. Then take a dry rag and rub the area to help it dry.

Try it in a small area first. It worked wonder in our cars and my parents vans. Plus the vehicles had a nice smell for a while.

Getting someone else to do it is the best way.

Normal suction vacuuming is enough 99% of the time. Soap and water and a scrub brush for regular dirt/clay/mud. You can use "spot cleaner: carpet cleaners for small areas.
Many times when mine is really dirty, I will pull the seats out and then the carpet out seperating it from the underlay padding and hang it on the fence and use the waterhose and soap on it(even a pressure washer. Then vacuum the underlay in the car and do rust checks and other. Then reassemble.

Of course vacuum it out first. But to clean it, you can buy carpet cleaner spot remover. You spray it on, let it dry and then vacuum it up. We have a carpet shampooer, we use on the rugs in the house, it has hand attachments for the upholstery and we use that to clean the carpet in the truck.

Use Resolve. Follow the directions on the can or bottle. Basically just spritz or spray it on and then use a stiff brush to clean it. Rub hard for deep stains. I would also try and use Scotchguard on it, which you can buy at your local WalMart for about $4 per can. If you would like to protect the carpet with mats, try www.ggbailey.com

You can scrub it with a wet brush and carpet cleaner then remove the dampness with a shop vac.

Are we talking "clean" or "CLEAN"? Vacuum would work for clean while a good carpet cleaner like "tough stuff" would apply to CLEAN!
Flip it 360 degrees? Hmmmmm! Wouldn't that be right back where we started from?

A carpet machine! Call rug doctor and ask them to send the van, and ask how much for a 5'x 10' room. A good forensics team will still be able to see the blood, but if you bleach the whole interior the DNA will be un-testable.
