My car is a 98 mazda 626, automatic. A couple of weeks ago it started shaking really bad when I stop at a red light. It also seems like it is just going to quit. Whenever I do drive it has no acceleration, i have to literally punch the gas down to get up to a normal speed. Once it gets going it doesn't shake but i've only driven around town (no more than 5 miles at a time). PLease help. I have a 200 mile trip home soon and need to know what to do. would it be safe to drive it home... without damaging the car??

A mechanic said that there was no power to the mass air flow sensor. He replaced the pigtail because you could see a burn mark on the wire and there was no power to the mass air flow sensor. After replacing the pigtail, there is still no power going to it. What could be wrong. This all happened very suddenly two days ago.

The low pressure pipe is cold to the touch while the A/C is on. I bought one of those refill tanks from a store, and the gauge on it says that it is actually "overcharged," so I'm not low on Freon. The compressor is clicking on (there are no belt problems). What could be wrong?

When I drive my car it starts out fine except for it shifts kinda hard from first to second gear sometimes. After driving for about 15 to 20 min my car when stopped will get stuck in second gear and then eventually putter out and shut off. If i try to start it back up it will not start up right away most times and if it does will putter out and shut off again. So I will let the car rest and drive for as long as i can before it shuts off again. After I let it sit over night i will be able to drive it for 15 - 20 min before it starts again. I brought it to the car shop and they said after fixing the overhead cam sensor that i should bring it to a dealership cause they dont know whats wrong. The car is a 1995 dodge neon with 102,000 miles on it. Please help.

Hello everyone, I ve been plagued with the problem of my alternator giving only about 11.6 volts when truck is on. Its a new 105 amp alternator i changed my negative battery wire to ground. I repaired a bad wire to the starter and the car doesnt drain the battery when sitting. I think its not the original motor b/c its carbuerated, maybe a 1986 engine im guessing? do older sub. engines have voltage regulators? please help. Im looking for inlines fuses in the harness to the alternator. Ive tried almost everything i can think of. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this a number of times on Answers, so it can't just be a spelling error. Is 'bumber" a European name for a "bumper"?

I.e., a bumper is used by cars to absorb bumps, not bumbs. Can anyone shed some light here?

I have a 1992 chevy cavalier. The belt squeals usually on the first start of the day and for 30 min or so after that, but usually on the second or third starts that day it doesnt squeak as much. Also warmer weather seems to increase the squealing. Do i need to tighten the belt? how do i do that?

I had my front tires replaced with new ones last month. Today I went to get my car inspected and they said my tie rod was worn too much so they couldn't pass it. Is is possible that they could not have noticed this a month ago (since play in the wheel was one of my concerns)? They suggest that water may have gotten into the tie rod and been frozen when they changed the tires last month and since it is warmer now, the water has melted and rusted the tie rods. Is this possible?

Hello,

I am having very poor gas mileage in my 1997 Ford F-150 V6 4.2L. Around 9 or 10 miles per gallon and I drive about 50-60% highway. I believe I used to get 16-17mpg.

Symptoms:
-Occasionally barely noticeable rough idle,
-occassionally starts, runs rough for a few seconds and stalls but then starts right back up

The fuel and air filters are new as is the IAC idle air control valve. PCV, coolant temp sensor and intake air temp sensor are pretty new. Any ideas why such poor mileage? Thanks

There's a loud clicking noise that comes from the center of my 2001 Subaru Outback. It gets faster as the car moves (any direction), stops when the car stops. Somebody watching me said the exhaust seemed to move up and down with it the noise. Nothing is hanging down and I don't "think" I feel anything insde the car.

I tried buying a new battery but within 12 - 24 hours my car will still not start until the battery is recharged. When we remove the cables from the battery once the car is running the car keeps running and does not die so I am understanding this indicates the alternator is not the problem? I have looked around the car and found nothing inside to be left on when the car is not on, so I am stumped. Anyone have any other ideas what could be wrong with it. The cables look fine and there is no corrosion.
