More than likely it is the window regulator/motor that will need to be replaced.

There is probably a bad 'limit switch' in the door. It tells the window motor to turn off when the window is all the way up or down.

You make reference to "power" window and to the fact you "roll" it down! Which do you have -manual or electric?
Sounds like a ground or switch issue if electric. Either way, you need to lubricate the track system with white lithium!

You could have a bad switch. I've had that before, the contacts get carboned over and don't make contact when you push them and need to be replaced.
