never had a problem going in/out of third before, but fourth used to grind a little going in. I was going to replace the slave eventually. and the clutch was slipping a little going uphill with a full load. now all of a sudden it won't get out of third gear, but the clutch still disengages normally. it's an 81 toyota pickup.

I have a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.
Just the other day I was driving at 30 mph, and between 30 and 40 mph the transmission was shuddering. Driving at higher speeds than 40 mph, I have no problems at all.

About 6 months ago, I had brought my car to an auto shop to have the transmission drained, flushed, and filter replaced. When I got my car home, the trans pan bolts and gasket didnt look like they were touched.
Today I drained the fluid and replaced the filter, only to find that the transmission fluid was as red as ever, and everything was fine on that end.

I read on some police interceptor message boards, that often the spark plugs could cause a shuddering. Is this true?

I'd like to hear some experience opinions on what might be causing this problem.

I asked this once before, but I have a '98 chevy cavalier LS and when i turn on the heat or anything related to the heat, a loud vibrating noise comes from the glove compartment area. The heat BARELY comes out. I was told check the fan blower or something like that, but i'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how much this is gonna cost to get fixed.

TWO different people replaced front seal on 1983 S10 4X4 Chevy Blazer 2.8 C.I., AND it still leaks (heavily) from that area! I don't think it's from the seal, as it was newly replaced twice. It's not from the trans fluid lines either, as the leak is coming from the seal area.

But if it's not the front seal- what else can be causing this leakage? Can a damaged pump cause leakage? The converter appears in good order, but could a faulty converter cause leakage too?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My 2002 CRV (78K) - break & ABS light flash occasionally & the airbag light has stayed on continually for 2 weeks. Dealership tested it & said alternator ($600) CR-V has had no problem starting up. Friend thinks it's battery or newly replaced serpentine belt slipped, but not alternator at only 78K. Found new manufacturer parts for $250 -- is it that hard to get the alternator out that they would charge an add’l $300 (3 hours of labor?) help!

Winter has hit and I've discovered that my windshield wiper fluid is not the kind that has antifreeze. Is there a way that I can drain what's in there now so I can go ahead and fill it with the winterized fluid or can I just add the winterized kind to what's left in there now?It has totally frozen up and now I can't use it at all.

I have a '94 Dodge Caravan with 150,000 miles on it. It's run like a top until yesterday. Last Sunday, 90 miles ago, I had it in for routine service at Jiffy Lube. They told me that the coolant was a little low and that they topped it off. Yesteday, I was driving up to the mountains for a hike, and all of a sudden the heater stopped working, and the 'check gauges" light went on. I immediately turned around and came home but there was no where to stop in between. I checked under the hood and they coolant reservoir was bone dry. I called Jiffy Lube, they came over and filled the radiator, but the coolant started pouring out all over the garage floor. I took it to Firestone, and got the bad news that I have a blown head gasket. Could this be Jiffy Lube's fault? There was previously no leaking or any overheating problems.

I had my brakes done awhile back....drove 800 miles just fine, but then, as I was driving down the interstate yesterday, there was this loud, vibrating, knocking noise! They think it might be the barrings, but not sure yet. It's the same guys fixing it as the ones who did the brake job. How do I know if it's their fault or if it was just coincedence? If in fact it IS the barrings, they're talking like, a $300 job. Seem fair?

I have no heat and I changed the thermostat. The temp gauge went up to about 180-190 but I still don't have heat. I don't smell anything like the heater core leaking.

If so, why should you have to have it in the summer?
At what temp. would it have to get in the winter for the block to freeze and crack?

Thanks in advance

I have a 2004 Aveo. The transmission fluid was changed in the spring because it was black and smelled burnt. When I took it to the dealership, the gave me the run around, so I just had my regular technician change the fluid at my cost. Now the fluid is black again. Is this a sign that there's a problem with my transmission? Is this a manufacturer's defect? What should I do?
