I have no heat and I changed the thermostat. The temp gauge went up to about 180-190 but I still don't have heat. I don't smell anything like the heater core leaking.

the heater core is plugged. It is an easy fix you can do at home. All you have to do is disconnect the 2 heater core lines coming out of the firewall in the middle and a little to the left of the firewall. Then put a garden hose up to one of the tubes and turn it on until it comes out clear and then put the hose on the other side and do the same thing. Once it is clear hook the lines back up and refill the coolant in the radiator. Then let it run with the heat on for a while and see if this fixes it.

I would recommend taking it to a mechanic and having the heater core flushed. There will be no warranty on the work because it is a temp fix. BUT you don't want to replace the heater core on this vehicle. The core itself is cheap but the labor time is humongous. What the mechanic should do it remove both hoses going to the core, run water through the core to flush and then shoot air in there. Then he/she should run water through the core the other way and hit it with a blast of air. Repeat this procedure a few times. Re-attach the heater hoses, top off the coolant and test.

A guy I worked with had this problem and he would have to flush it a few times.
