Insurance & Registration - October 2006

My insurance company says they cover my rental up to $1000 some-odd dollars at $35 a day. Because I chose a repair shop listed with their "Circle of Excellence", my insurance company says if the repairs aren't done by then, the shop pays for the rest for the duration of the repair time. However, I spoke with the guy who's keeping me updated on repair status and he said the shop probably won't pay for the difference because they have no control over how long this is taking. For the record, they've had it since Aug. 24th. Now I'm worried that I'm gonna get slapped with a MAJOR rental bill. What the *%^%$*&^ is going on??? What do I do?

The insurance rates in New Jersey are higher than any rates in the entire United States. I demand an answer to this outrage! It makes no sense that in California you can pay like $140 for the whole -year- to insure a car, while in NJ you pay like $140 every month.

When someone has and accident and their car is total and they have full coverage insurance on the vehicle, does the insurance company only pay the blue book value of the vehicle to the lender? Does the insurance company pay you anything once paying the lender off? How does it really go when a vehicle is total?

I just got a 94 Buick Park avenue a few weeks ago. I'm 17 and getting my license (hopefully) on the 25th of this month. I have a question about the insurance. Our company is Amica. I've gotten a quote recently from my dad talking to them. He told me today that after two cars are insured the third one is automatically listing me as the primary driver. I'd like to be able to be the 'secondary driver' to save money...anyone know if this is possible with this company?

i know this is done on accident ratings in groups of people. however every person is different and therefore every driver should pay the same the day they pass there test and then it should adjust from there. if you try to sell a chocolate bar for different prices to a man, women, boy or grandma you'd get jumped on for ageisum

I'm a 23-year old woman living in North Carolina. I'm getting my license for the first time and desperately need *affordable* car insurance. Problems? I am an orphan, so I can't be added to my parents' policy. I don't live alone, but cannot be added to my roommate's policy. Most insurance companies have told me that b/c I don't live alone, I can't get a nonowner's policy, which is fine, but the prospect of paying $5,000 for a 6-month policy is unimaginable. Does anyone know where I can start? I will get my restricted license (restricted due to NC's financial liability requirement) next week and need to get insurance and a car ASAP. HELP!

have insurance? My car has insurance (my husbands name) one night i was driving thru a small town to get diapers (no licence) and got pulled over. The officer didnt even ask me for insurance he just gave me ticket for no insurance. The officer told me to explain to the judge. Today was the day i went to report on the ticket the clerk told me that its the law in texas that if you dont have a licence you automatically have no insurance. I asked to speak to a judge she said she wasnt there. I also asked for more time to aquire an attorney and she said she couldnt give me any extra time. However she gave me to 2 weeks to aquire the money and talk to the judge but not to aquire the attorney. Im thinking its probally cheaper to just pay the ticket. But first id like to find out if shes right about the law if its correct i will pay but if im just being scammed then i will do whats cheaper. Any knowledge please.....

I'm getting insurance in Florida, and I talked to a progressive guy yesterday, and he didn't mention that, so does that mean my policy probably wouldn't cover uninsured drivers hitting me?

My boyfriend & I just got back from overseas in June. His car got here in July, and BAM he pretty much totaled it. Its a brand new car, he's had it for less than a year. His insurance said they do not provide coverage in the United States, and canceled his policy. Like "end of story, youre screwed."

So what happens if he tells the bank (who he pays for his car loan $ to) that he CANNOT afford to fix it (like $12g Im talkin here!), and to repo it? Will the bank sue him for the cost of damge to the car? Or will they just repo it and he gets bad credit???

HUGE financial problem here (ugh)
