Insurance & Registration - October 2006

I was involved in an accident and was found not at fault by the police report but my insurance company said I was 50% at fault. There is nothing saying I was at fault. The other person was cited not me is there anything I can do? I am in California!

For cost purposes I want to remain on my parents insurance policy because I am only 18, but I financed my car on my own and our insurance company wont insure me unless my parents are on the title.

My friend was driving my car in the left lane in an urban area. I was sitting in the passenger seat. We were approaching a traffic light which was green and all of a sudden a huge pick up truck next to us (middle lane) rams into the passenger side of my car. He was going faster than us, and he didn't stop he scraped my car from the door all the way to the front lights.

We filed a police report, the other guy admitted that he did hit us but only because another car cut in front of him. My insurance is just liability, I am dependent on his insurance. They took a statement from all 3 of us and say theyre are conflicting. The insurance lady said the police didn't see the actual scene so the report would just have what we said happend. WTF? Can the insurance company screw me over here? Now I am waiting for them to send an appraiser to my mechanic's shop (thats where I had to tow it since it wasn't drivable).

Any advice, I am a college student, help!

I am moving to France next week and will be taking my British registered car. I rang my insurers who told me that they would only insure me 'up to the ferry' and after that I'd have to get French insurance. Surely there has to be a buffer with the insurance which protects you until you get to your new residence or the like. I know with travel insurance you are protected until you get back to your home - not as soon as you land in Dover or Heathrow! I don't want to drive uninsured - has anyone else got any experience of this matter?

I took out insurance on my car 3 days ago. Ive tried to pay the road tax via the vehicle licence website, but the website is saying there is no record of my vehicle being insured on the motor insurance database. Can anyone tell me how long I need to wait before the motor insurance database will register my insurance thus allowing me to pay my tax?

I live in AZ and was recently in an accident. It was the others person fault, she was in the median and didn't stop and I slammed into her at 75 mph. I talked with her ins and they are inspecting my car which I believe is totaled and are going to get back to me in about 2/3 days. Everybody keeps saying I should talk to an attorney. I wasn't that injured, my parents came to the scene and drove me to the hospital where I was discharged with only scared tissue and brusing. Her ins said they will pay for med bill and loss of wages, then get back to see if the car was repairable if so then discuss settlement. What to do?? Help please!!

My boyf passed his driving test about a month ago, but because we went on holiday straight after him passing, he hasn't managed to send off to replace his provisional for his full license. Does anyone know if there is time limit how long you have to send off for your full license?
We are in the UK by the way.

Is there anyone here who did not get a vehicle registration renewal bill from the DMV and then late charges applied, and you were able to get the late fees waived since it wasn't your fault that the letter got lost in the mail or something like that? Is that usually the case? Does the DMV usually waive it? I need to know! Thanks!

ok, here is the story - I was buying car in one state,but unfortunately,state law requires you to have state licence,you can't finance car with out-of-state licence. i asked friend to help me - i bought car on his name, loan is on my credit, but he's also on application cause he's the owner. now i want to settle it - cause he's my friend and i don't want money stand between us. somebody told me that it's possible to re-register car on my name after some time. but i don't know proper way to do it. cause now i need to register this car in my state, refinance it the way my friend is not going to be on applicaion. what is the right way to do it? what must be done first? is it possible first place?

I have AAA of southern california auto insurance. While my car was parked in a parking lot, a vehicle hit and damaged the front end of my car and then left (I was not present at the time of the accident). Will it raise my insurance rates to report this accident and then have the damages repaired?

Truck was totalled 2 yrs ago in fireworks accident. My son was not at fault but our ins. co. paid. Now he's bumped into a friends truck with our car. Will our rates go up? Will his? Are we better off paying out of pocket? Would deductable apply in this case?

I was driving behind a car which came to a halt without warning. I sounded my horn to see if the driver had stopped and parked or was just stopping momentarily. He then put on his warning lights. At this point he was double parked. As soon as it was safe to do so, I began to pass him. Whilst I was doing so, one of his pasengers opened her door out onto the oncoming traffic hitting my car and damaging the door. I pulled over and asked her if she had not seen me at which point one of tne male occupants of the car told me that he was going to knock me out. Being 5.5 mnths pregnant and scared, I went back to stand next to my vehicle while the other car inhabtitants stood around laughing. Then they just drive off. Witnesses got the plate and had called the police. About 30 mins later, the car returned, dropped off one of the girl passengers who looked drunk and drove off again. I filed a police report .I will contact my ins. tomorrow. Is there any way this idiot could try to counter claim?
