A couple months ago, my mom was wrongly accused in a car accident in California, a couple days before she was supposed to go on vacation. My mom had my two little nephews in the car & had already backed out the car & was in drive position already. This young girl came speeding down the street in a residential area & she was on her cell phone & completely not paying attention to the road. The police arrived after my mom had pulled her car up to our driveway and immediately assumed that it was her fault since she was backing out. Since her English isn’t good she couldn’t really say what she wanted to the police officer. She gave a statement to our Farmers adjustor before she left & he called back when she was on vacation.

My claim was denied by the other driver's insurance policy. I have been advised to sue in small claims court, but I do not know if I am supposed to sue the driver or the insurance carrier in the state of Oregon. Thanks.

I got into a car accident the other day. He was reversing trying to park a car and hit the side of my car (right behind the tires). He came out saying "I'm sorry, can you look the other way this once, this is my first time driving here." I said "No." But I didn't call the cops because I didn't want to turn this into a 'thing'. I took down his insurance information, phone number, address, and name.
I get home and see that the damage is a lot worse than I had anticipated ( was looking at it in the dark before). So I call him up the next day. He spews a bunch of trash about how he wanted to goto the cops, but I didn't (when the word cops wasn't even mentioned), and how the accident was all my fault. We have a date on tuesday at the police station.
This is where I'm troubled, he's obviously taking advantage that I didn't call the cops on the spot and is now trying to force the blame on me. I don't have any hard witnesses or real evidence except where he hit my car. Anything I can do?

I live in California, and did the web payment option for the second ticket. It still allows me to do traffic school even though my last ticket was 10 months ago. The first ticket was in a different county which is why i'm guessing they have no record. Not sure what is recorded by DMV.

My husband left for Iraq, and the only thing he forgot to do before he left was change the deductable on the new car. I was hit while driving thru the parking lot the other day (he backed into me as I was passing) and I have a $1000.00 deductable on a brand new car. Am I supposed to pay this or does his company have to pay this? BTW, they are disputing this....

My son was involved in a collision this morning. The driver of the other vehicle pulled out right in front of him and he rear-ended them. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield and the state trooper that handled the accident said that the collision was unavoidable on my sons part. The question concerning me is that my son did not pay anything for the car he was driving because it was given to him by my daughter. The car has a salvage title because it had apparently been totalled before but had been restored. The car probably would not be worth very much even had it never been in an accident because it is a 1986 year model Pontiac 6000. Now he is without transportation unless I provide it. Will they only be required to pay a salvage price for damages or what?

I picked up a rental vehicle this morning while my car is in the shop for repairs from an accident. The employee from the rental company talked me into getting the supplemental insurance saying how it'll make things easier in the event of an accident. Not realizing that my own auto insurance will work on a rental (it's mandatory to have auto insurance in Massachusetts), I went ahead and purchased the CDW. Knowing what I now know, is it possible for me to opt-out of the rental agency's protection plan and use my own for the remainder of the rental period? Even if I have to pay for today, I'll do that. Beats having to pay for a whole week's worth.

Earlier today some drunk decided to run after hitting my vehicle. Luckily for me both of my god brothers were outside when it occured and they are police officers, so they were able to stop him. He had no proof of insurance or registration in the vehicle, and was to drunk to understand anything. I have all of his information and the vehicle information, except insurance. Does anyone know how I can go about finding out if the vehicle is insured? Please help, since I have a $550 deductible if he is not insured.

My girlfriend is going to drive my car on a long drive. She is insured, but on a plan that covers her own car, not on my insurance. Could this be a problem if anything happens? My car is insured with me as a driver.

How do you obtain ownership of a vehicle that was given to you without a title???

I had a neighbor that moved and left a vehicle in the backyard, I ran into that neighbor and asked about the car and they gave me the keys and said I could have it. They don't know where the title is and really is not interested in going through the motions of obtaining it. What do I do?

I was in a car accident where i rear ended the other driver. We exchanged information but they said everything was fine and not to worry they didnt appear to have any damage but i had cracked my radiator. They left the scene and within the hour, they reported the accident with a state patrolman and they've been calling my house and cell phone. I have been driving for 6 months and have a clean record. What will happen next with the cops and the other car and how will this affect my insurance rate?
