will i be able to take my test and keep it after i pass or will they take it off me and how long do the points stay on your licence for thanx

Did they created a 'ghost' licence for you to log your non-licence holding points? - these were probably transferred to your provisional upon your application - giving you an instant 'totting up' ban - so you can't legally hold a full licence as a new driver.
They stay 'valid' for TWO years - but must be displayed for THREE.
Personally I'd wait until the old ones expire...no point in getting banned before you begin!!

There is no problem over taking your test. You are not disqualified from driving until you have committed an offence which the court thinks merits a disqualification or until you have twelve points on your licence. The points count against you for three years, running from the date of the conviction. After three and a half years you may apply to DVLC to have them removed, so that you can avoid the embarrassment of everyone who sees your driving licence knowing about them.

I think you will be allowed to take your test but you will then be considered disqualified for 3 years or until the points are removed, whichever is the shortest. You can only have 5 points on your licence before you been driving for 3 years. I'd leave taking your test til you lose the points personally.

The points stay on your licence for three years but when you apply for an insurance they ask you if you have had any convictions in the last 5 years. This is in UK. Not a good start though getting points BEFORE you even start driving.... sound like Plod has been feeling your collar for some misdemeanor or other ????

I wouldn't bother going for your test, as a new driver you only need 6 points to lose your licence, so when you get it you lose it. The points stay on for 3 years so your better off waiting until your licence is clean.

You have 6 points left before your licence is suspended. The total is 12 points. You will probably have to pay higher insurance depending on the offence, and some insurers may not like you, but those are the only effects.

All depends what the point`s are for ! points do not count on your license after 3 years , But dvla will not remove them until 4 years have passed for insurance purposes , if they are endorsement`s then i think it is 6 years before dvla will remove them . you need to check with your driving instruct er about the points when you take your lesson`s . Because under the new system if you get 6 or more point`s during the probationary period of 2 years , Dvla will revoke your license and you have to re apply for your provisional again And you have to re take your theory test again . Everything you need to know your driving instructor will be able to tell you .... good luck .

i dont think you will be able to take ya test. because when you pass ya test you are on a two year probation. if you get 6 points on ya licence in those two years you lose ya licence and have to retake all ya tests...how on earth did you manage that, maybe you shouldnt b allowed to take ya test if you got 6 points b4 even passing a test!

New Law for new drivers passing there test is that if you get 6 points you will be banned and have to resit your theory and test again and this lasts for 2 year. So in your case it may be an idea to speak dvla to find out where you stand

The hard part is not passing your test but getting Insurance ...depends on the offence how long the points stay on...
