Is there anyone here who did not get a vehicle registration renewal bill from the DMV and then late charges applied, and you were able to get the late fees waived since it wasn't your fault that the letter got lost in the mail or something like that? Is that usually the case? Does the DMV usually waive it? I need to know! Thanks!

They will not waive the late fees. They figure that you should keep up with the renewal and since you cannot prove you did not get the mail then they don't have to believe you. Sorry.

Sorry, the letter they send out is only a courtesy, not a legal requirement. You are responsible for keeping track of such things and making sure you don't let them expire. After all, you see it every day and know what the expiration date is. Better look at your driver's license really quickly and make sure it hasn't expired eh?
