Theft coverage is bundled together under comprehensive. Every company I have ever delt with allows comp. to be dropped and collision and /or liability retained. If there is a lein holder check with them first as they may require comp. coverage. Be aware also that comp. covers hail, lightning, flood, fire, vandalism, glass breakage, etc. You may not want to sacrifice those coverages. Check into raising your comp deductible to $1,000.00 if you are looking to save some money on premiums -- it's a lot cheaper than replacing your car if it burns to the ground.

No, you can't do that. Theft coverage is part of comprehensive coverage which covers any damage caused by any means other than collision. Fire, theft, valdalism, riot or insurrection, flood, collision with animals, glass breakage, etc. all come under that coverage. You can't separate out theft without dropping all comprehensive coverage.

Just drop comprehensive coverage. You won't be covered for theft, vandalism, hail or if you hit a deer.

If the car is leased or has a loan you might be required by law to have it. If you own the care out right you only need liability.

all that is true for the most part what they said...Comprehensive is very inexpensive and comes into use when you never would think you needed it.
