Can i legally drive someone else's car in the state of California (we live here), without me having insurance? and i have a vaild driver licence, and the owner of the car is a minor. and he has insurance for himself, and under that insurance anybody of his family may drive the car, so does that bit of information matter?

and i am NOT part of his family, just friends.

My car was rear ended by a lady in an SUV. I agreed we could settle it out of insurance, so I got a quote.

Her husband called (who happend to be a cop..weird luck..but true) and he agreed to pay the quote I faxed him.
I could go through insurance if necessary, but wont. How do I ensure he pays the dealer repair for about $600?
Do I get him to write an agreement? What is the procedure to make sure he pays?

Any advice would be helpful...so far everything is ok, but I want to pin him down.

Thanks!!

I was driving in the far right lane of a major road. A Mercedes SUV that was in the turn lane on the opposing side of traffic turned into traffic. The other driver barely avoided the other lane of traffic, but clipped the bumper of my BMW. The driver was clearly at fault, and claimed her insurance would take care of it. I had no insurance at the time as I was leaving the country in a few days, and felt no need to renew my insurance. I gave her contact information for my current residence, and told the driver if they had any problems my roomate would forward me the information. I am still out of the country, but My father tells me that my roomate has recieved a call from the Disctrict Attorney's office. I assumed since I had not heard anything, and that the other driver was at fault that the issue had been resolved. I would like to return to the U.S. eventually, but need to know what I should do, since I am out of the country, and what kind of penalty I may be look at?

I've moved to a different state. The car was owned and titled to both my husband and I. He had signed the car over to me but during the move, the box containing this title was lost. It was an Arizona title. We owned the car outright so there was no lienholder. I now have to register the car in a different state (MI) as the sole owner. I have the legal paperwork to prove that my husband and I agreed that the car was solely mine. How do I go about getting a new title? I've checked online with the AZ DMV and that was no help. Ideas???????

They bumped me from the back while I was waiting for traffic, admit it was their fault. My insurance have told me it is cheaper to write off my car at market value than to repair it. Bought car 2 months ago, Insurance say they will pay half what I paid, and will own my car afterwards. I will end up owing money for a car I no longer have, cannot afford another one with what they are going to pay me. It was not my fault - and I should not come out of it so badly. Please could you tell me if you have faced this and if so, what you did. The auto trader website value of my car tells me I paid the right price, but the insurance company seem to be able to name their own market values. Is it better to go with the other drivers insurance company> How do I come out of this able to buy another car? HOw many others of you have faced this situation?
