Ex-wife moved to Cali with car in my name. She hasn't have time to transfer title yet, but wants to know if she can get insurance in her own name.

Yes, call an independent insurance agent, they'll know which companies can/will and will find you a competitive rate while they're at it.

Yes. I did it once before. As long as she is the primary driver it can be done. I did this with a company car that was registered in the company's name, while it was more economical to put the insurance in my name only. If she moved to Cali, by law, she has a very short time to register the vehicle in the state or they can hit you with fines. If she is NOT paying you anything for the vehicle or you have already realized you will never see any money for it, you should send a release of liability to YOUR state. If she is driving a car in your name, you are liable....PERIOD. Protect yourself and release that fast! GOOD LUCK!

Yes, it depends on the company.
You know that your still liable if the car is in your name. Have her go toDMV or a reg service if DMV is not convient. Of course if the car is finance still, to get your name off she'd have to refinance the car. If that's the case check with the finance co for options. Good luck with the process!

yes, you can; have her to call to any insurance company it depend on the them what to request from her but if you are in the area of Los Angeles there is so many companies.
