I have full insurance coverage on my truck. The paint is peeling off the roof of my truck and I can see rust. Is this something my insurance will cover? I'm insured with American Family Insurance.

I have been in psychiatric treatment for a little over three years. My symptoms had been pretty severe, including psychotic episodes up until a few months ago. I'm trying to piece my life back together, and getting my car repaired was on my priority list. Well, I had some done, had it inspected, and then got an oil change. The guys at Jiffy Lube told me that my inspection sticker was over three years old, and that in North Carolina they now charge you a fine of $200+ as soon as your inspection is four months past due, and then tack on $25 per day for each day after that. Well, I guess that means when I next go to register my car, they will tell me I owe them nearly $30,000!!! I don't have $300 to my name right now. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get a waiver of some sort when you have extenuating circumstances? I had no presence of mind to comb my own hair for years, let alone have my car inspected. I never got any notifications. Now I'm scared to call and ask anyone at DMV.

I live in NY and was having some custom work done to my car in Georgia. While test driving the car the mechanic was involved in an accident. The mechanic had told me that the accident was the other drivers fault and that the other driver's insurance would pay for the repairs. Now the mechanic is telling me that the insurance company would not give him enough for the repairs and wants to get my insurance company to pay for the rest. What should I do??

My mother, who lives in Florida, wants to buy a new car for me before I start commuting for school again. The vehicle I have now isn't very reliable anymore, to put it nicely. My mother's credit is impecable. Her Beacon score is over an 800. My credit is extended and although not bad, not nearly good enough to get the same deal she can on APR. So, the dealer has suggested that she buy the car outright to take advantage of the low APR. Adding me to the loan will not benefit her, at all! Problem is, NC has a "Straw Purchase" law. Now Im not sure what the exact contents of the law are, but I know it means that one person is not supposed to buy a car for another. Also, there is a law in NC that the vehicle insured, has to be driven by AND registered to the same person. So, I cant insure a car that my mother bought for me. And in NC, a dealer can't sell you a car unless you have insurance! How do I get around this?? I have to get a new car and my mother is not moving to NC anytime soon!

Some people say to go thru your own insurance, some say call the other party's insurance. My insurance says to pay them them the deductible and then they ll try to get it from the other drivers insurance.

I live in Tennessee and I am considering buying a 1968 VW beetle out of a salvage yard without title. I have heard that I can get a salvage title for it with the bill of sale from the salvage yard, but can I register it to drive with that or what do I have to do to get it legally on the road. Is there a way to get a rebuilt title or something?

I believe that I'm being stalked by an old boyfriend, but I want to be sure before I get the police involved. I bought a subscription to net detectives, but it's no help. It won't give me the information I need and the information I did get was at least a year old. I know that I can probably get a subscription to something else that will, but I don't have any more money to spend on this. I called the police station to see if they would just give me the information, but they said I would have to file a report. I'm all out of ideas, can someone please help.

I just hydrolocked my 2005 Mazda3 and pretty much totaled the engine (or so I think), and was wondering what my insurance status would be given that I had an AEM aftermarket cold-air intake installed. I fear they might not give me a dime, but maybe some of you have had similar experiences... any chance I would only have to pay my deductible, or is that too much to hope for??

I'm under 25, and I'd like to buy a cheap car. Over a 6 month period, the insurance will cost much more than the car itself!! So is there a point to getting a car?
