I just hydrolocked my 2005 Mazda3 and pretty much totaled the engine (or so I think), and was wondering what my insurance status would be given that I had an AEM aftermarket cold-air intake installed. I fear they might not give me a dime, but maybe some of you have had similar experiences... any chance I would only have to pay my deductible, or is that too much to hope for??

Usually mechanical breakdown or failure is not covered.

That's considered a mechanical breakdown and is not covered by insurance. Sorry! Check with your insurance agent, but that's probably the way that it's going to go.
