I'm afraid that car insurance doesn't cover things that a warranty should cover, ie maintainence, wear & tear, etc. It must be a covered peril (eg fire, theft) for it to be covered under comprehensive coverage.
Check and see if your truck is still under any kind of warranty - the sheet metal/rust warranties on some vehicles can run 10 years/100,000 miles. Might also be worth calling the manufacturer of your car to complain even if not - the Dodge Neons had a paint peel/rust problem on the first run cars after about 6-7 years; I was working in a body shop at the time and almost fell over when the paint actually peeled off the roof of a car in sheets, just from an air hose blowing on it..... and while it was out of warranty, Chrysler was offering partial payments for paint to customers that called to scream.
Good luck!

Insurance coverage does not cover defects or workmanship. Comp coverage will cover something like an acidic substance that somehow got on your vehicle and caused this condition. Remember, 'loss' is sudden and accidental so if the paint is peeling off due to defect (thousands of GM light trucks built in the OK. plant had 'peeling' paint problems years ago) then your policy will not be paying for this one.
PS -- I wouldn't take FakeplasticT advice if I were you ... the claims appraisers can tell if you damaged your truck vs peeling paint and they will not only not pay, they will non-renew or worse, cancel your policy. Just TRY to get coverage anywhere after that.

Probably not. I think the rust would be under your own maintenance. If you really want to raise your insurance premium damage the roof some how. Dent it w/something and say that someone vandalized it. Then you'd have to pay a deductible.. then your premium will go up more than it's worth to paint the truck.

More than likely this is something you will either have to live with or pay on your own. Now if it was damaged because of hail then you should have reported that a long time ago so you could have gotten it fixed before rust damage set in.
