They will cover the accident if it happened AFTER you signed the policy application, IF your check clears. They'll be able to see when you were entered in their system to determine the approximate time the application was signed, or go by the date/time on the application.

Did they give you a binder? The binder should indicate the time coverage went into effect. If they didn't, call them now!! With luck, they'll fill it in as 12:01am.

Your insurance company will require an independent verification of the day the accident happened. Luckily, this was an accident with another party, and perhaps a police report or witnesses. As long as the other party verifies the accident happened on a day you had coverage, you should be alright

Additionally, your insurance company will probably make sure the method you used to pay clears before making payments.

As long as all is in order, your vehicle should be taken care of if you have collision coverage, and the damage to the other vehicle should be taken care of out of your property damage liability coverage.

If you were paying your ins co to reinstate the policy after it lapsed they have the right NOT to cover your loss and return your money. Most reputable companies will extend coverage but may elect to non-renew the policy after term is up.

Yes as long as you had paid for it, and coverage started they are required by law to pay for it.
